March Madness is much more exciting this year for one Grant County family. Teagan Moore, a lifelong resident of Grant County and a freshman at Western Kentucky University, played in the NCAA basketball tournament. He scored 2 points.
WKU defeated UTEP 78-71, to secure the 2024 Conference USA Tournament Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Moore’s parents work for Owen County Schools. His mom, Jennifer Moore, teaches science at Maurice Bowling Middle School; his father, Tim Moore, is the school’s assistant principal.
As a result, instead of being a Grant County Brave or a Williamstown Demon, Teagan became a basketball star for the Owen County Rebels.
As a WKU Hilltopper, Moore has played in 27 games, averaging 14 minutes per game. He averages 6.3 points per game with a career high of 22 points against LA Tech. He has been selected as Freshman of the Week twice and was selected for the CUSA All Conference freshman team.
The Hilltoppers took on Marquette on Friday, March 22 in Indianapolis.
