Both the Lady Braves and Braves tennis teams played matches over the previous week fighting through on-and-off rain. The girls faced off against district opponents Simon Kenton on Monday, April 22 while the boys played Trimble on Tuesday, April 23. After a tough battle, the girls were beaten 1-5 while the boys took a tight win at 3-1.

Playing at the Pioneers’ home court sophmore Mallie Bates took the Lady Braves’ only victory at 8-3. Although the Grant team put up a stiff resistance Simon Kenton decisively won the match over their opponents.

The weather then interrupted both girls and boys teams’ schedules as the girls team was unable to finish their match against Trimble.

The boys’ team, however, did just manage to finish their sets, battling through the rain for a win. Junior Keaton Connelly took the first win over the Raiders going 8-4 in his match.

Likewise, fellow junior John Brady won his singles match 8-5 in a tight game.

Finally, Jordan Schagene secured the Braves’ third win in an intense overtime set. After tying his first 8-8, Schagene battled it out in the rain for a tiebreaker win at 7-4.

Having gone the distance the boys team took a solid win over the Trimble Raiders.
