Richard Gene Rose, 83, passed away on Jan.10 following a battle with pneumonia. Born in Sparta on March 16, 1940, to Ethelbert and Goldie (Baker) Rose, Richard was the baby of 6 siblings.

Raised in Owen County, he spent most of his adult life living in Frankfort. Richard graduated from Owen County High School in 1958 and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Kentucky State University in 1980. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1961-1967.

He was a retiree of both the United States Postal Service and the KY Finance & Administration Cabinet.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; and his wife of 43 years, Donna (Gaines) Rose. He is survived by his son, Chris (Amy) Rose; his stepson, George Honaker (Travis); and his daughter, Jill (Darryl) Fitzpatrick, as well as four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Per his wishes, no visitation or funeral will take place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date, where he and his wife (who passed away in October 2023) will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort.
