    Grant County scored twice in the second half Oct. 10 to come from behind to beat Simon Kenton 2-1 to repeat as 32nd district champions.

    The win propelled the Braves to host the regional tournament opener Oct. 15 against Gallatin County High School.

    For the third year in a row, the Grant County Boy’s golf team qualified for the state championship after finishing as runner-up in the 8th Regional Golf Tournament held at AJ Jolly Golf Course in Alexandria on Sept. 26.

    For the second season in a row, the Braves finished 11th of 24 teams from around the state at the 2018 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac KHSAA State Golf Championship on Oct. 5.

    The Lady Braves avenged a loss earlier in the season to Bryan Station with a 3-0 on Oct. 3.

    The Grant County girls’ soccer team lost 5-3 earlier in the season to the Lady Defenders.

    Less than three weeks ago, Simon Kenton handed Williamstown the worst loss of its inaugural varsity season with a 7-0 defeat.

    While the result was the same, the Demons showed their toughness and tenacity Oct. 8 in the 32nd District tournament opener against the Pioneers in a season-ending 1-0 loss.

    Five turnovers and struggling to put points on the board cost Grant County on the road Oct. 5 against Cincinnati Aiken in a 48-7 defeat.

    Despite the 41-point margin of defeat, the Braves were within two touchdowns before Aiken exploded for 27 points in the fourth quarter.

    Anderson County blew open the game in the first quarter against Grant County with four touchdowns and never looked back.

    The Bearcats defeated the Braves 43-8 to keep the team’s undefeated season alive.
