  • St. E offers mobile stroke screenings

    The St. Elizabeth CardioVascular Mobile Health Unit will be offering stroke and cardiovascular screenings at locations throughout Northern Kentucky during May and June. Special pricing of $75 for all three main screenings, including peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery and abdominal aortic aneurysm are offered. An EKG screening will be added in June for $35 or $110 for all four screenings.

    Locally, the screening will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 12 at St. Elizabeth-Grant County. To make an appointment, call 859-301-9355.

  • COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES:

    Registration is open for community classes at the Grant County Career and Tech Center. Classes include:

    • June 12 – July 3 - Website Design class from 6 to 8 p.m on Tuesdays. Eight hour class. The cost for this class will be $40.

    • May 23 – June 27 - Welding (basic) class from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Forty hour class. May 28 will be skipped due to Memorial Day. The cost for this class will be $175.

  • School nurses attend conference

    Several local nurses attended the Spring Kentucky School Nurses Conference. Local nurses attending included, Mary Lillard, LPN Mason Corinth Elementary, Rhonda Schlueter, RN NCSN, Grant County Schools district health coordinator, Julie Lewis, RN Williamstown Schools nurse, Tracy Merrell, LPN Dry Ridge Elementary, Valerie Blackburn, LPN, Angie Jones, RN Grant County High School, Julie Spillman, LPN Grant County Middle School and Christy Hagedorn, RN Crittenden Mt. Zion Elementary.

    Kenny and Rosie Bobb of Mt. Zion are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kitty Layne Bobb to Christopher McKinley of Independence.

    The wedding is being planned for 6:30 p.m. May 19, 2012, at Kenny and Rosie’s farm on Sherman Mt. Zion Road. A reception will immediately follow at the same location.

    Kitty chose this date for her wedding because it marks Kenny and Rosie’s 50th wedding anniversary.

    David and Pam Threlkeld of Williamstown would like to announce the birth of their son Robert Harrington Threlkeld was born at 6:18 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2011, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. He weighed 8 pounds 12.4 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    His paternal grandparents are William and Helen Threlkeld of Williamstown.

    His maternal grandparents are David and Linda Taylor of Cynthiana. He was welcomed home by his two puppies, Spike and Miley.

  • Lady’s Day at the Range

    It’s not unusual to hear shooting coming from the Lloyd Wildlife Management Area in Crittenden though recently it was not the normal crowd. Over 50 women, some as young as 13, attended Lady’s Day at the Range, an event hosted by the Northern Kentucky Straight Shooters Association.

    The event is hosted each year in an effort to provide experience and hands on instruction to women interested in shooting sports.
