  • Williamstown explores KY 36-Barnes connector

    A proposed road could connect Barnes and Ky. 36 near where the Ark Encounter is located in Williamstown. Mayor Rick Skinner and the city council received the results of a preliminary study for the new road from Logan Murphy, senior engineer for Hicks and Mann, Inc., during the council’s June 6 meeting.
    The proposed road would go off of Barnes and end on Ky. 36, near Heekin Clarks Creek Road, and come out between the Williamstown Family Fun Park and Ark Encounter.

  • Rockin’ the Ridge set for July 2

    A week before the Ark sets voyage in Williamstown, country star Joe Nichols and five other area musical acts will be Rockin’ the Ridge at Piddle Park in Dry Ridge.
    The inaugural event is set for Saturday, July 2, as a way to draw people to the city and celebrate the Fourth of July weekend.

  • Meals of Hope brings community together

    As volunteers entered Williamstown High School cafeteria on June 18, they walked passed huge bags of rice, soy and beans stacked in the hallway. Once inside, they put on hairnets, food service gloves and took their assigned stations, which were tagged with the organization’s name, and were supplied with everything they needed to measure, bag and vacuum-seal meals for the needy.

  • Grant County Board of Education issues favorable evaluation of superintendent

    The Grant County Board of Education has completed their annual, 2015-2016 evaluation of Grant County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ron Livingood.  
    The review utilized a new evaluation instrument known as the “Superintendent Professional Growth and Effectiveness System.”
    This new, rigorous assessment tool requires the Superintendent to provide comprehensive documentation of performance and effectiveness in each of seven areas, then employs a rubric to assist board members in scoring the results.
