  • Couple renews vows in Tenn.

    Damon and Linda Mounce, of Dry Ridge, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

    They were married in Cincinnati on June 14, 1980.

    The couple renewed their vows, on June 14, 2010, at the Wedding Chapel in the Glades in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The Rev. Dan Saffelder officiated.

    The Mounces have a daughter, Breanna.

  • Stroude returns from Iraq War

    Grant County welcomed home one of its own local heroes on July 29.

    Johnathan Manning Stroude came home from a tour in Iraq just in time to celebrate his 26th birthday, which was July 31. He was among 167 troops who returned home safely.

    While serving in Iraq, Stroude received a promotion to specialist (E-4) and an award for meritorious conduct.

    Stroude was welcomed home by many loved ones and friends at the Old Worthington Homestead in Sherman. Everyone expressed appreciation for his service and for the service of all troops who serve.

  • Kyle-Burger wed May 8

    Melissa Ann Kyle of Dry Ridge became the bride of Jeffrey Ross Burger on May 8, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfield, Ohio.  

    The bride’s parents are Nancy and James Hudson of Dry Ridge and Mark and Lisa Kyle of Carrollton.  

    The groom’s parents are Diane and Ron Cantrell of Fairfield and Ken and Diane Burger of West Chester, Ohio.    

    The bride wore an ivory strapless satin Oleg Cassini ball gown with a bodice of beaded embroidery and a chapel length train. A cathedral veil completed her attire.  

  • Melton to celebrate 80th birthday

    The family and friends of Charlie Melton are invited to share in the celebration of his 80th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Eagle Creek County Club, 990 Crittenden Mount Zion Rd., Dry Ridge.

  • Couple celebrates 50 years

    Donnie and Irma Arthur will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

    In observance of their anniversary, an open house celebration will be held from from 2 to 5 p.m. July 31 at Maysville Community College Licking Valley Campus in Cynthiana.

    The couple request no gifts.

  • West, boy, July 2

    Eric West and Felicia Miller of Crittenden would like to announce the birth of their first child.

    Owen Lee Scott West was born at 12:56 p.m. on July 2, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    He weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

    His maternal grandparents are Anna Eldridge of Crittenden and the late Marvin Miller. His maternal great grand parents are Curtis and Barb Eldridge and Joyce and Kenny Miller, all of Crittenden.

  • Wright, Woosley win at Lakeside Arena

    Two Grant County students won titles at the district three horse show on June 6 at Lakeside Arena in Frankfort.

    Emily Wright won the grand champion title and Mycah Woosley came in as reserve grand champion in contest riding.

    Other Grant County students who placed in competitions were: Mikayla Bowen, Karyna Devis, Payton O’Neill, Sierra Schmitt, Christine Summers, Shane Wright and Hannah Adams.

    Wright and Woosley performed July 7-8 at the Kentucky State Fair.

  • Wilson-Held to wed

    Liz Wilson and Kevin Held are pleased to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    A private wedding ceremony is being planned for July 31. A reception will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the JMB Hall on Taft Highway in Dry Ridge.

    The bride is a 2004 graduate of Williamstown High School and a 2006 graduate of Gateway Community and Technical College and is employed by Great Clips.

    The groom is a 1993 graduate of Conner High School. He is also a 1998 graduate of Cincinnati State and is employed by the Dana Corporation.

  • Grant Allstars move to state

    The Grant County 9 and 10-year-old Allstar Team became District 6 Champions after beating the Owen County Allstar Team on July 7.

    The team moves on to the state tournament in Georgetown on July 14, to compete for title of State Champions in their division.
