• William Oliver named Fellow of American Chemical Society

    Dr. William R. Oliver of Crittenden, was named a Fellow of the American Chemical Society at a recent meeting in Philadelphia, Pa.

    The ACS, the largest scientific society in the world with 164,000 members, has conferred this honor on fewer than 600 of its members. ACS instituted the Fellows program in 2008 to recognize outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the Professions and the Society.

  • St. Elizabeth Dragon Boat places fourth at Paddlefest

    The 2012 St. Elizabeth Dragon Boat Team placed fourth overall in the dragon boat races at Paddlefest on Sept. 8.

    They competed in three races. The first and second race were qualifying races.  The St. Elizabeth Team raised $750 for the Northern Kentucky Community.

  • Dade, girl, July 15

    Benjamin and Emily Dade of Williamstown would like to announce the birth of their first child. Amilia Kate was born at 6:52 p.m. on July 15, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

    She weighed eight pounds and three ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Joe and Jackie Webster of Williamstown. Her maternal great grandparent is Ethel Webster of Williamstown.

    Her paternal grandparents are Chris and Maria Dade of Williamstown.
    Amilia was welcomed home by pets, Daisy and Bella.

  • Thomas-Smallwood to wed

    Steven B. Thomas and Debra Lynn Smallwood are being wed on Sept. 14 in a private ceremony. A reception for the couple will be held at 6 p.m. following the ceremony at Lloyds Welfare House in Crittenden.


    The Wright and Jones reunion will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 16 at the Grant County Park in Crittenden. Bring food and drinks and spend the day with friends and family. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m.


    The Adams Reunion will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 at the Goforth Community Center. Bring a covered dish. Food will be served at 1:30 p.m. For more information, call 859-824-6096.

  • Stivers celebrate 50 years

    Clifford and Pat Stivers celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sept. 8, 2012.

    In observance of their anniversary the couple celebrated quietly at home. Clifford and Pat were married by Bro. Russell Fryman in Dry Ridge.

    They have two daughters, Brigitte (Jeff) Coleman and Bernadette (Jeff) Couch. They also have three granddaughters, Kelsey and Shelby Coleman and Brooklyn Couch. Clifford is retired from Sechrest Garage and his wife, Pat is also retired.

  • McKenneys celebrate 50 years

    Bruce and Ann McKenney will celebrate their 50h anniversary on Sept. 16, 2012.

    In observance of their anniversary, a party will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Williamstown.

    Bruce and Ann have four children, Bamba, Tammie, Keith and Kevin. The couple requests no gifts. The public is invited to attend.
