Here's a look at sports action throughout the county.


Braves program gears for first meet

When: Dec. 4 at 10 a.m.
Where: Harrison County High School
What: The Grant County Braves wrestling program is prepping for their first meet in their history, lead by coach Matt Shearer and captains junior Damien Lucas and senior Nick Cox.
Upcoming: The next meet after Harrison County for the Braves will be Dec. 8 at Cooper High School.
Coach’s Take: “They need to continue to work hard and drill them on our practice moves and they need to go harder to get into better shape. If they push themselves, they will get into elite shape and also help them on the mentality of the game.” - Matt Shearer


Demons’ get first two games at home

When: Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Williamstown High School
What: After opening the season at home Nov. 30 against Carroll County, the Demons will prepare for the Rebels of Owen County.
Upcoming: Williamstown will head to the road to face the Ludlow Panthers Dec.8 at Ludlow High School.
Coach’s Take: “I have no idea what Owen County has coming back. They need to prepare for us more than we have to prepare for them.” – Steve Sigmon

Lady Demons travel to Owen County

When: Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Owen County High School
What: After falling to Lloyd Memorial Nov. 29, 49-42, the Lady Demons will have a big task on hand, as they will travel to play the Lady Rebels, which defeated Grant County 74-36.
Upcoming: Williamstown will travel to Covington Dec. 4 to take on Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. The 2010-11 home opener for the Lady Demons will be against Gallatin County, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Braves take on the Devils of Dayton

When: Dec. 4
Where: Grant County High School
What: The Braves will open up their 12-game home schedule against the Dayton Devils. It will mark the first home game for new coach Jim Hicks. The season opener was Nov. 30 against Oldham County and the score was not available at press time.
Upcoming: After playing the Devils, Grant County will have a six-day layover before playing Simon Kenton Dec. 10, at Simon Kenton High School. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
