Revelation of faith for salvation

-A A +A

I’d like to share with you the greatest news ever! Paul, the one God used to write the book of Romans, said in Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...”
Notice the word “gospel” in this scripture. In the original Greek it was a word that was seldom used at the time this was written.

Nobody talked this way, because the word literally means nearly-too-good-to-be-true news. It referred to news that was so awesome, nothing really justified using it.

Nothing was nearly too good to be true. This was why Paul said “I am not ashamed” of it! Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling very godly because I sinned. Yes, just like you have. It wasn’t anything immoral or what we would categorize as a “big” sin but it was a sin. By the way there are no categories of sin in God’s eyes.

If you break one of His commandments it’s as if you broke them all. He said that not me. Anyway, I was experiencing the feelings that come along with sin; guilt, shame, condemnation, etc. But I heard the gospel! And as a result I was so full of joy and I felt so good! It was like the weight of guilt and condemnation lifted off me!

Because when you hear the true gospel of Christ it will produce those emotions. Martin Luther said “we need to hear the gospel every day because we forget it every day.”

That’s so true. What is the gospel of Christ? Paul went on to say in v.17 of Romans 1 “For in it (the gospel) the righteousness of (from) God is revealed from faith to faith…” The word righteousness is also translated “justification”. It’s the opposite of condemnation. It’s the judicial act of God, by which he pardons all the sins of those who believe in Christ, and accounts, accepts, and treats them as righteous in the eye of the law.

Because of Christ dying on the cross for our sins meaning He fully paid the punishment for our sins God as Judge can declare you righteous/justified/innocent! And because of that He raised Jesus from the dead. Justification is not the forgiveness of a man without righteousness, but a declaration that he possesses a righteousness which perfectly and forever satisfies the law, namely, Christ’s righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). This gospel/good news is the power of God to save/rescue every person who believes this news! Yes, you heard me right; everyone who believes not earns, works, behaves, and keeps all the commandments. Are you thinking “this is nearly too good to be true”? It’s called being saved by grace through faith, not of works, lest anyone should boast. There’s no way you can earn this righteousness by your good works. It’s only by believing this good news. Maybe you have already believed this message and are saved but I trust after hearing it again you’re now experiencing the power of God in your soul and even in your body. Please read this closely. What is the gospel?

It is the revelation of faith for salvation, which is the message that we preach. For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience eternal salvation instead of eternal damnation.
The heart that believes in him receives the gift of the righteousness of God. Friend, if you have done this for the first time I’d love to hear from you. See my contact information.
