Geneva Seale gingerly dabbed at the tears filling her eyes during Memorial Day services at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown.

Seale just buried her husband, a navy veteran, in November.

“I don’t know why I’m crying,” she said. “I didn’t cry at Christmas, but this is moving with it being Memorial Day and everyone here.”

Others like Kim Harris of Corinth and Curtis Knight of Crittenden attended and placed wreaths in honor of their fathers. Harris’ father, Master Sergeant Terry Lee Garrard, was a Marine while Knight’s father, Dan Banks, served in the Coast Guard.

They joined other families, such as Kenneth and Karen Wallace who buried their son, Daniel, who was killed in Afghanistan in November for a ceremony honoring military personnel and those bured in Grant County. For a slide show of the ceremony, go to www.grantky.com
