The Grant County Lady Braves (3-1-9) tied with the Pendleton County Ladycats (5-1-10) 2-2 on Oct. 2 Senior Night.

The seniors that were honored were Faith Johnson, Maggie Ellis, Paige Shebley, Kendall Clemons, Morgan Moore, Faith Shebley, Morgan Tucker and Madeline Tucker.

The Lady Brave’s offense came out strong. Emotions were high from the senior presentations. Johnson, who has been injured for majority of the season, got the chance to be on the field with her teammates one last time.

After many shots attempted, freshman Amber Faehr sunk a shot in the left corner of the goal. Before halftime, Pendleton County was able to tie the score at 1-1.

Halftime seemed to re-energize Grant County, as they quickly took back their lead when Heidi Chischilly crossed a ball to Faehr, who then scored her second goal.

Their defense remained strong with Clemons, Bailey Caldwell, Morgan Tucker, and Paige Shebley, who kept a sturdy formation and successfully recovered for each other.

With two minutes left in the match, a Pendleton County player shot a ball right over keeper India Homer’s head, where she was unable to reach. That shot tied the game at 2-2. Homer, a freshman, had many saves throughout the night.

“We will really miss our seniors next season,” said head coach Mackenzie Tucker. “It’s bittersweet watching them graduate because they were just starting out when I was graduating.”
