Last Thursday’s snowfall caused problems for more than just motorists.

The inclement weather forced Helping Hands to cancel the mobile Helping Hands/Freestore Food Bank Food day.

The good news is that Helping Hands, Barnes Road in Williamstown, will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23 and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 24.

Mason Barker, director of Grant County Helping Hands, said that he’s aware of 250 families who had vouchers for the mobile food pantry.

“We want to make sure that those families as well as others needing assistance, know they can still get help in time for Christmas,” Barker said.

Clients with food vouchers are asked to pick up at their designated time due to limited parking.

Barker said Helping Hands, a coalition of local churches dedicated to helping those less fortunate in the community, still has a need for toys and volunteers.

“Helping Hands is here to help anyone who may still need Christmas assistance,” he said.
