County Christmas Party brought joy, laughter

-A A +A

The County Christmas Party, held on Dec. 10, drew 631 people with activities such as a DJ, face painting, make a necklace, decorate a card for a nursing home resident and make a Christmas tree ornament.
Because of the generosity of the community, 44 families received Christmas gifts and 13 Christmas trees were delivered. Some families even received clothing for their children. Every child in attendance received books, a stuffed animal and a bag of candy. There was a Santa shop for parents.
Without the volunteers, 48 in all, this event would not happen. The volunteers are beautiful people and they give of their time because they love seeing a smile on a child’s face. That’s what Christmas is about – giving, helping and reaching out.
We were blessed with so many donations. Special thanks goes to Dry Ridge Toyota, La Rosa’s, Chelsea’s, Sherman Elementary, The Realty Place, Crittenden Fire Department, Food Lion, Body Works, 2 Ladies and a Cake, Country Grill, OBI Nails, Tropical Tans, No Strings Wireless, Four Seasons Auto Wash, Creations by Angie, Jean Ebner, Mike and Tonya Young, Massage on Main, Paisley Palm and Deb Fitzgerald.
This is the seventh year for this event, which is open to all families and is not just for those less fortunate. It is for everyone. Everyone gets treated the same.
We hope that during the 2011 Christmas season we can do even more.
