  • St. Elizabeth Dragon Boat places fourth at Paddlefest

    The 2012 St. Elizabeth Dragon Boat Team placed fourth overall in the dragon boat races at Paddlefest on Sept. 8.

    They competed in three races. The first and second race were qualifying races.  The St. Elizabeth Team raised $750 for the Northern Kentucky Community.

  • Dade, girl, July 15

    Benjamin and Emily Dade of Williamstown would like to announce the birth of their first child. Amilia Kate was born at 6:52 p.m. on July 15, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

    She weighed eight pounds and three ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Joe and Jackie Webster of Williamstown. Her maternal great grandparent is Ethel Webster of Williamstown.

    Her paternal grandparents are Chris and Maria Dade of Williamstown.
    Amilia was welcomed home by pets, Daisy and Bella.

  • DOUBLE VISION? Teens take message on the road

    Fourteen local students have taken a unique approach to promoting the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and drug use among Grant County youth.


    Fall means cooler temperatures and shorter nights. It also means there are plenty of festivals and events in the community.
    During the next few weeks, Grant County will be host to fundraisers and festivals.

    Sherman Tavern Old Fashion Chicken Dinner Buffet
    If preserving history is your thing and you like fried chicken, then the Sherman Tavern fundraiser planned for 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 is for you.
    Edna Cummins of Crittenden will be frying chicken and hoping to feed a large crowd.

  • WHS CC competes at Grant race

    “Like a pig field,” is how one runner described the course at the Grant County Cross Country Invitational Meet on Sept. 8 at Sherman Elementary School.
    Rain had soaked the course earlier in the morning, and for some runners, it was slower going.
    This was the third event Williamstown cross country teams had competed in this season, after their Sept. 1st competition at Ryle High School.
