  • GCHS, WHS KNOCKED OUT OF...

    Lady Braves, Lady Demons look to next seasonBoth the Williamstown Lady Demons and the Grant County Lady Braves volleyball teams ended their seasons on Oct. 9 in the 32nd District Tournament held at Grant County High School.
    Grant County faced the undefeated Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers, losing the game in three sets 25-9, 25-8, and 25-12.
    Williamstown met rival Walton-Verona, losing 25-13, 25-8, and 25-15.
    Both teams are proud of their accomplishments this season and look forward to improving next year.

  • Williamstown hosts CC...

    Williamstown High School hosted 20 schools, including over 600 runners, Saturday, Oct. 6, at their invitational cross country meet.
    Teams from Cooper, Highlands, Dixie Heights and Bellevue High Schools took home first place finishes in varsity and junior varsity races, and all runners competed for individual awards as well.
    Williamstown cross country coach Michelle Whaley confirmed that this was the highest attendance ever after several years of hosting a meet.

    Two young athletes from the Grant County High School soccer program have earned recognition this year when they broke school records.

    Mollie Pelfrey and Forrest Schmitt kicked their way to new school records this soccer season.
    Pelfrey, a junior at GCHS, shattered Jackie Kinman’s previous record, by scoring 23 goals against opponents this year.
    Pelfrey was quick to give credit to her former coach and her teammates.

    On Sept. 29, the Williamstown middle and high school cross country teams attended the Pendleton County Cross Country Invitational, located at Sharpe Middle School in Falmouth.
    The team had the previous weekend off and was ready to tackle the course.

    “Lots of contact today” was how Grant County High School senior Jared Baker described his race Sept. 29 at the Pendleton County Cross Country Invitational at Sharpe Middle School.
    Baker was describing the elbows and spiked shoes flying as the boys’ varsity runners completed their 5K race.

  • Cody Kellam qualifies for state...

    Cody Kellam, a sophomore at Grant County High School, will be joining GCHS female golfers, Sarah Kellam and Macy Wright, at the state golf tournament later this week in Bowling Green.
    Kellam finished third overall at the regional meet on Sept. 25 or Sept. 26.

  • Lady Braves beat Henry County

    The Grant County Lady Braves started their match Sept. 29 against the Henry County Wildcats with a cheer led by Gwen MacAdams.
    Bethany Lawerence scored first with a penalty kick.
    With 8:20 left in the first half the two teams started to slow down, but the start of the second half was fast and hard hitting with the Wildcats looking to score and tie up the game.
    Dana Liggett had other ideas. Liggett roared down the field, called out to teammate Kelsey Lund for a pass and slammed the ball into the back of the net.
