  • BIG BLUE MADNESS

    On Oct. 12, Lexie Moore, 8, competed in a free throw competition at the University of Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness at Rupp Arena. She earned the chance to compete by placing first in a free throw competition held during a John Calipari Basketball Camp at Ryle High School. She missed winning by only one shot. She lost in the second round of a sudden death shoot-off.

  • GCHS sends 3 runners to state

    The Grant County High School Cross Country team traveled to Ryle High School for the Class 3A Region 5 Championships on Nov. 3. Grant County had three qualify for the KHSAA State Cross Country Championship that will be held on Nov. 10 at the Kentucky Horsepark.

  • RACE TO THE FINISH

    The Grant County Elementary Cross Country team sent several runners to the annual cross country KTCCCA  Meet of Champions, which is equivalent to a state championship for elementary teams, on Oct. 27 held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.

    Grant County had participants in these categories: middle school (7th and 8th) boys and girls; 6th grade and under boys and girls, and 4th grade and under boys and girls.

    Of Grant County’s participants, the following runners received individual honors:

  • Sassy Stallions finish season...

    The Sassy Stallions, Sherman Elementary’s fourth and fifth grade elementary girls basketball team, finished the season with a record of 10-0.

    “We’ve had a great season. I’m proud of everyone of these girls, who played hard and as a team each and every time they stopped on the court,” said Coach Ben Webster.

  • WES finishes cross country season

    The Williamstown Elementary Cross Country team finished their season on Oct. 27 at the KTCCCA Meet of Champions held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. The runners raced well and as teams, placed well. The 4th and Under Girls team placed 12th, while the 6th and Under boys team and the 4th and under boys team placed 19th, respectively.
    Individual results are as follows:
    • 6th and under girls 3000M race: Tabi Jordan - 139th (14:47.40)
    • 4th and under girls open 2000M race: Sophia McKenney - 138th (12:11.2) and Courtney Evans - 164th (14:34.6)

  • Grant places in Harrison County...

    The Harrison County Invitational was held at the Cythiana Country Club on Oct. 18. The Grant County Girls Varsity team placed runner up.

  • GCHS, WHS KNOCKED OUT OF...

    Lady Braves, Lady Demons look to next seasonBoth the Williamstown Lady Demons and the Grant County Lady Braves volleyball teams ended their seasons on Oct. 9 in the 32nd District Tournament held at Grant County High School.
    Grant County faced the undefeated Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers, losing the game in three sets 25-9, 25-8, and 25-12.
    Williamstown met rival Walton-Verona, losing 25-13, 25-8, and 25-15.
    Both teams are proud of their accomplishments this season and look forward to improving next year.

  • Williamstown hosts CC...

    Williamstown High School hosted 20 schools, including over 600 runners, Saturday, Oct. 6, at their invitational cross country meet.
    Teams from Cooper, Highlands, Dixie Heights and Bellevue High Schools took home first place finishes in varsity and junior varsity races, and all runners competed for individual awards as well.
    Williamstown cross country coach Michelle Whaley confirmed that this was the highest attendance ever after several years of hosting a meet.
