  • Late rally bolsters Braves over...

    The Grant County Braves stormed back for a six-point deficit in the final minutes of the battle of the county Dec. 6 to beat the visitors from Williamstown 77-74.

    The game was about as equal as it could be, except for the final score.  
    Both teams made 13 two-point baskets. Both teams made 10 three-point baskets.  
    Both teams shot 28 free throws.

  • Lady Braves fall to Dixie Heights

    The Grant County Lady Braves fell 54-38 to Dixie Heights on Dec. 5.
    The Lady Braves jumped out to an early lead at 5-2 behind good shooting from Abby West and Tiana Thornberry.  

    Less than two minutes into the game, Thornberry went for a steal at mid-court and came down in a bad way.  
    She would leave the game with a knee injury and would not return to play.

    The Grant County Braves hosted the Fleming County Panthers on Dec. 2.  
    The Braves senior trio of Zach Tuggle, Luke Adkins and Conner McClure combined for 48 of the Brave’s points in the 76-48 victory.

    Tuggle, who led the Braves in the Nov. 29 win against Ryle in overtime with 17 points, led all scorers with 27 points.  
    He was hot from the field and the foul line.  
    With his twisting and turning moves in the lane, Tuggle often scored the basket or was fouled in the act of shooting.  

  • Lady Braves easily win season...

    The Grant County Lady Braves basketball team started off their season with a bang on Nov. 28, beating the Pendleton County Lady Cats 60-20.
    The Lady Braves were led by sophomore Bry Ezell with 19 points, senior Madisyn Ruebusch with nine points and Tiana Thornberry, Lindsay Kinard and Carrigan Ruber all with six points.
    Grant County started out fast paced and ready to play as they quickly gained a lead over the Lady Cats.

    When Grant County High School started their first-ever wrestling team Cody Miskell’s sophomore year, he was more than happy to be one of the first on the roster.

    As a little kid, watching UFC fights and movies like “Rocky” with his dad ultimately inspired him to be as rough and tough as the people he saw on screen.

    He knew he wanted to fight just like them.
    Cody’s high school wrestling career was nothing but a success.
