  • Braves win Mike Swauger Holiday...

    The Grant County Braves played at Bellevue High School and went 3-0 to win the Mike Swauger tournament.
    The Braves won 59-48 against Brossart on Dec. 21; 59-46 against John McGregor, Ontario Canada on Dec. 22 and won 92-88 against Newport in the championship game.

    The Williamstown Lady Demons won the Christmas at the Capital in Frankfort, Ky, this winter break, after clinching their first two victories to advance to the championship game, where they handily defeated Menifee County 74-56.
    Michaela Kennedy averaged 33 points and six rebounds in the three games, setting a new career high at 45 in the semi-final game against Model, where her team won 58-55.
    Kennedy also broke the single game three-point record after sinking nine from behind the arc.
    Justice Chambers and Haley How both also made a splash in the tournament.

  • Hot shooting leads Demons over...

    The Williamstown Demons hosted the Nicholas County Bluejackets on Dec. 20, and road the hot shooting hand of senior Jon Jump to a 67-44 victory.
    Jump hit a long-range three from the corner in front of the student section and pep band to join the 1,000-point club at Williamstown High.  

    The game was stopped for a moment to recognize Jump, who led all scorers with 18 on the night, including five three-point baskets.
    Wenzie Fox controlled the opening tip and it didn’t take long for the Demons to tickle the nets.  

  • Jump hits 1,000-point mark

    Williamstown High School basketball player Jon Jump hit a long-range three pointer Dec. 20 from the wing right in front of the Williamstown Band and student section.  
    Play was stopped to award Jump for scoring the 1,000 point of his career as a player for the Williamstown Demons.

    Jump, the son of Jeff and Tina Jump, would continue to add to that throughout the game and currently sits at 1,021 points with a lot of basketball to be played this season.  
    He joined fellow teammate Brennan Stanley as 1,000-point scorers.  

  • Fox leads Demons to win over...

    The Williamstown Demons hosted the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts on Dec. 17, and defeated the previously undefeated team 67-55.  

    The Demons jumped out to a 13-10 lead after one quarter mainly on the play of Wenzie Fox.  
    Williamstown went inside frequently to the 6’6” post player.  

  • Thoroughbreds rally late to beat...

    The Grant County Braves hosted Harrison County on Dec. 16, and lost in overtime 76-74.
    The Braves led by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter but turnovers and poor shooting from the field and free throw line cost them the game down the stretch.

    Another factor in the demise of the Braves was the fouls they committed which resulted in four Braves fouling out.  
    The Braves were without the assistance of both big men for almost the whole fourth quarter.
