  • GCHS Girls Soccer Tryouts:

    The Grant County High School girls soccer team will be holding tryouts for junior varsity and varsity players on July 11, July 14 and July 15.
    Sessions will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at GCHS.
    Players need to bring shin guards, cleats and a ball.
    A completed KHSAA physical form is required in order to participate. The form can be found at http://khsaa.org/forms/ge04.pdf.

  • GCHS Boys Soccer Tryouts:

    Grant County Boys Soccer will be having tryouts for JV and Varsity from 7 to 8:30 each night on July 14 through July 18 at the Grant County High School. All players will need to bring tennis shoes, cleats, shin guards and have a current KHSAA physical. For more information, contact Garrett Griffith at garrett.griffith@zoomtown.com.
     
     

  • COACH CAL VISITS COUNTY

    True blue Wildcat fans got a chance to meet University of Kentucky basketball Coach John Calipari on June 20 when he made a stop in Dry Ridge.
    The national championship-winning coach visited Wildcats and More in Dry Ridge to sign copies of his new book, “Players First: Coaching From the Inside, Out.”
    About 100 fans took pictures and received autographs from Calipari at the store.
    Calipari said the book shares insights on his coaching philosophy, along with stories about his first few years at UK.

    The Grant County High School Braves and Lady Braves did not fare well in the opening round of the 8th region tournament held on Memorial Day.
    The Braves, coached by Darrin  Robinson, lost 2-1 to the Carroll County Panthers on May 26 at Henry County High School.

    The Panthers scratched a run in the first inning and added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. The Braves, threatened in the top of the sixth, scoring one run with no outs, but the Panthers held off the rally.

  • Bohman competes in USTA state...

    Courtney Bohman, a seventh grader at Grant County Middle School, competed April 26 at the USTA Trampoline and Tumbling State Championship in Somerset.
    Bohman had a great meet finishing as state champion on double mini, state runner-up on the rod floor and fifth place on the trampoline.
    Only the top 10 finishers of the state championship qualify for the National Championship. Bohman qualified in all three events and will represent the state of Kentucky and Fitstop Gymnastics at Nationals on June 17 through June 22 in Louisville.

    • Megan Perkins; 100m finals; placed 18th with a time of 15.80. Perkins also placed 19th in the 200m finals with a time of 32.34.

    • Olivia Harden; 100m finals; placed 19th with a time of 16.06. Harden also placed 17th in the 200m finals with a time of 31.98.

    • Walker Angell; 100m finals; placed 20th with a time of 13.41. Walker also placed 20th in the 200m with a time of 27.63.

    • Dustin Smith; 200m finals; placed 15th with a time of 26.26.
