    The Williamstown track and field team closed out its 2013 season on May 10 at the Class 1A Region 4 Championships hosted by Walton-Verona High School at the Walton Verona Athletic Complex located in Verona.  The top two in each event and the next 10 best performances among the seven Class 1A regions compiled results qualify for the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships that will be held at the University of Louisville on May 17-18.

  • Girls on the Run joyful, unique...

    Girls on the Run is a program for girls in the third through fifth grade and the sixth through eighth grade to participate in an after-school program. This program is designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength.

    The lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. Each school discusses body image, self-esteem, bullying, gossiping and peer pressure among other topics. Physical activity is woven into the program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a healthy life.

  • Lady Braves fall to Lady Cougars

    The Lady Braves were defeated by the Connor Cougars on May 1. Kayla Cummins took the mound for the Lady Braves. With strong defense, the Lady Braves were able to hold the Lady Cougars in check until the sixth inning when their bats began swinging. The Lady Braves will play Bracken County on May 14.

  • Braves continue 7-game winning...

    The Grant County High School Baseball team has found a rhythm and are on a seven-game winning streak.

    “The players are finally getting timely hits, running the bases well and just doing the little things it takes to win. They are playing team baseball,” said Coach Darrin Robinson.

    Robinson credited several players including Jordan Martin, Ben Shipp, Jason Goe, Blake Dills and Lucas Alger for giving 100 percent working hard and playing consistently.

  • GCHS Hosts Invitational

    Grant County High School hosted the Grant County Invitational Track Meet on April 26. Grant County High School Seniors Nick Braun and Jarred Baker, as well as Jeremy Dunn, center, the track team manager, were recognized at the start of the meet by GCHS Coach Chris Jefferson (above.)

    Braun went on to place third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.80.
    Williamstown had two atheletes, Hannah Kinsey and Alex Prokopchak compete. Kinsey participated in the 800, while Prokopchak won the girls long jump event and placed second in the triple jump.
