     The Williamstown Lady Demons hosted the Beechwood High School Lady Tigers Saturday, Dec. 16 and ran away from the visitors, winning 45-17. It was a nice win for the Lady Demons helping them to improve their record on the season to 5-3 overall.

    The Grant County Lady Braves hosted Spencer County Lady Bears on Saturday, Dec. 16 and came up on the short end with a 60-57 final score. 

    The Lady Braves came into the game knowing that this would be a good contest for them. Both teams have played well so far this season, but Spencer County is 5-2 on the season after the win on Saturday.

    The Grant County Lady Braves hosted the Williamstown Lady Demons in a district battle on Monday, Dec. 11, and ran away from the Lady Demons 82-30.

    Grant County’s full court pressure was too much for the youthful Lady Demons. The Lady Demons committed 14 first quarter turnovers, which led to easy buckets for the Lady Braves in the early going. They committed 38 turnovers in the game.

    The first battle of Grant County in the 2017-18 boys basketball season took place at Williamstown High School on Wednesday, Dec. 6. The Grant County Braves won the game by scorching the nets with hot shooting from inside and outside the arc. In runaway fashion, the Braves captured a 56-point decisive victory over the Demons at 94-38. Both teams entered the game without a win on the season, but the Braves proved that they will have a successful season.

    The Williamstown Lady Demons basketball team got off to a rough start dropping two games in a row to start the season before winning three straight.

    Gallatin County defeated the Lady Demons in their home opener 50-31 Nov. 28.

     The Williamstown Demons opened the 2017-18 boys basketball season with a loss to the Gallatin County Wildcats on Nov. 29 by the score of 78-30.

    Head Coach Kasey Mason said that “Practice Makes Permanent” is a motto that the Lady Demons are trying to live by in the 2017-18 season.

    It is no secret that the Grant County Lady Braves basketball team will be one of the teams to beat in 2017-18.  The Lady Braves return a strong lineup from last season’s team that made a strong run at the regional title.  The Lady Braves flew under the radar last season but made a strong run finishing runner-up in the 8th region.
