  • Grant County wins Beechwood...

    The Grant County Boys Golf team came away from the 2014 Beechwood Invitational as overall team winners with Cody Kellam taking home first place individually, for the second straight tournament, by shooting four under par 67. Jacob Vrolijk also joined the party by shooting a one over par 72 and taking second individually on Aug. 7 at Flagg Springs Golf Course.
    The tournament had a field of 11 teams from across all of Northern Kentucky and by day’s end the team had shot a season best 310 and tied Ryle High School for first place.

  • Prather goes to World Series

    Ben Prather, son of Berkley and Shannon Prather and the grandson of David and Carol Rhoton, will be going to Winchester, Virginia to compete in the Cal Ripken World Series.
    Prather is the starting third baseman on the Southeastern Lexington 10-year-old all-star team.  The team claimed the Ohio Valley Regional title in Newburgh, Indiana, defeating Mattoon, Illinois 3-0 in the title game.
    The Lexington team will represent the Ohio Valley Region in the Cal Ripken World Series in Winchester, Virginia, on Aug. 9 through Aug. 16.

  • Golf Scramble to raise funds for...

    Grant County Sheriff’s office and Williamstown Police Department will hold the 14th annual Shop  With A Cop Golf Scramble at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 22 at the Eagle Creek Country Club in Crittenden. The entry fee is $240 per team with a maximum of 22 teams. Format will be a four-man scramble. Mulligans are $5. Limit one per person.

  • Hudsons place at Junior Olympics

    Halee and Bryan Hudson spent their summer at the track, competing most weekends since the end of May at meets all over the mid-west. Hours of practice and competition paid huge dividends, though, as they represented Kentucky well on the national stage.

    On Saturday, July 26, Owen County will host the Battle in the Bluegrass, a Grant County Special Olympics Invitational softball tournament at the Owen County Park.

  • UK player to host basketball camp
  • BN Legends hosts basketball...

    BBN Legends will host an elite skills camp at 1 p.m. on June 20 at the Williamstown High School.
    BBN Legends is teaming up with Williamstown High School and Wildcats and More to bring the premier Kentucky Basketball Camp to  Grant County.  The camp will feature senior leaders Jarrod Polson (2012 National Champion, 2014 Runner Up, 2011 Final Four) and Terrence Jones (2012 National Champion and 2011 Final Four, current starting forward for the Houston Rockets) plus Final Four MVP Jeff Sheppard along with local basketball coaches.

  • RUNNERS COMPETE IN GRANT CO....

    Several hundred runners arrived throughout the day Sept. 6 at Sherman Elementary School to take part in the 41st annual Grant County Cross Country Invitational.

    An open race for anyone interested began at 8 a.m., followed by the girls’ varsity 5K at 9 a.m. Races followed throughout the day, culminating with elementary girls and boys.

    Grant County High School senior Sydney Parker had an impressive finish in girls’ varsity, placing 17th overall out of 107 girls. She finished the 3.1 mile course in just under 23 minutes.
