The Tom Duncan and Arby’s-Shoney’s team defeated the Bombers 3-2 in eight innings.
Tyler Jones led the offense with three hits in four at bats.
Starting pitcher Stanley Riley went 4 2/3  innings with one hit, two runs, one earned, nine walks and five strikeouts.
Brian Meade came in relief to get the win, going 3 1/3 innings with four hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

Williamstown Independent Schools will be hosting an inaugural 5K run/walk May 21 to raise money for health and physical education equipment.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with participants asked to check in at 8 a.m. at the school.

Registration costs $20 until May 20 and is $25 the day of the race.

All participants who pre-register will receive a race day T-shirt.

Anyone who pre-registers by May 4 will only pay $15.

There is a $3 discount for Williamstown students.

On a bright sunny April morning, Grant County Little League Baseball and T-ball, held their opening day games at Grant County Park in Crittenden.

The children lined up against the fences, as their teammates stepped up to the plate, kicking dirt up in the batter’s box.

The umpires, chanted the two words that gear people up for baseball, “Play Ball.”
Regardless of who won, all of the children got to play and the parents and attendees experienced a day full of games on three fields in the park.

When Tabatha Clemons became involved with Girls on the Run in Grant County, she imagined a large number of young girls getting involved with running and learning some life lessons along the way.

Sherman Elementary and Crittenden-Mt. Zion Elementary were the first schools to jump on board last spring.

Clemons, the Grant County Parks and Recreation director, said the program became popular after the spring season and when Williamstown, Dry Ridge and Mason-Corinth Elementaries came on board.
