  • Braves set to take on Simon Kenton

    The Grant County Braves improved their record to 7-9 with a hard fought 61-50 win over Henry County Jan. 15.

    Braves coach Jim Hicks was pleased with his players’ effort the entire week in practice before the game.

    “We were 6-9 coming into this game,” he said. “We have worked as hard this week than any team I have coached in my career. These kids have worked their tails off. If we work that hard, we are just going to get better.”

  • Lady Demons fall short in finals

    It may have not been the best game the Lady Demons have played this season, but it was a surprise for many to see Williamstown in the championship game against Walton-Verona Jan. 15.

    “Nobody thought we were going to make it to this level,” Lady Demons coach Mark Wilhoit said after the game. “Everybody had written Owen County and Walton-Verona in for the championship game.”

    The atmosphere was electric with both Walton-Verona and Williamstown’s bands performing at the game, providing a deafening sound during timeouts. The Lady Demons fell 45-25 to the Lady Bearcats.

    The Braves wrestling meet at Campbell County has been cancelled due to the weather conditions. Stay tuned for more information on a possible makeup date.

  • Lady Demons vs. Owen County 8th Region All "A" Classic Game Postponed

    The 8th Region All "A" Classic semi-final match with Owen County has been postponed due to the weather.

    The game is rescheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 14, with the winner moving to the championship game Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.

  • W’town seeks All “A” title

    It may not be March yet, but the Lady Demons are getting prepared for the 8th Region All “A” Classic tournament Jan. 13 at Walton-Verona High School.

    Williamstown will face Owen County in the semi-final match at 7 p.m.

    The Grant County 12 and Under team won the St. Mary’s Invitational in Alexandria. The team defeated St. Joseph of Cold Spring 53-34. Leading scorers for the Grant County team were Tyler Jones – 20 and Brian Meade – 10.

    Jan. 16, 1986
    A new record was made, as Grant County senior David Shelton broke a 15-year-old record scoring 47 points in a 90-43 win over Bellevue. The record had been 46 points and was held by Jack Coe in 1971.

  • Lady Braves prep for Lady Cats

    After falling to Simon Kenton late in the game on Jan. 6, the Lady Braves will look to rebound against Henry County Jan. 14 at Grant County High School.

    “We were up a point to start the fourth quarter, but we just ran out of gas,” Lady Braves coach Darrell Guffey said.

  • Braves outlast Demons 64-60

    The game was nothing like the 87-41 defeat that the Demons were handed by Grant County last month, but it still was a loss as Grant County beat Williamstown 64-60 Jan. 4.

    A highlight for the Demons was the stellar play from junior guard Jake McKinley, who scored a career-high 30 points.

    The Williamstown boys' basketball game for tonight at Gallatin County has been cancelled. No makeup game has been scheduled at this time.

    What: The Braves struggles continued after losing two close games at the Capitol City Invitational at Western Hills High School, only managing one win over the break, defeating Whitham-Hanson Regional, MA 52-29, Dec. 29.
    Upcoming: The Braves will have a tough test on the road as they will gear up for Walton-Verona Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
