  • Grant falls to Oldham in regionals

    The Grant County Braves traveled to Henry County on Feb. 25 to face Oldham County in the first round of the 8th Region Tournament.
    The Braves were determined not to let the Oldham Colonels walk away with the game, but their battle against Simon Kenton on Feb. 22 took its toll.

    The Braves lost to Oldham County 61 – 44.
    “For it to be a big game like it was, I did not think we played as hard as we could have played,” said Coach Jim Hicks.
    Hicks said his team played so hard against the Pioneers, the Braves hadn’t fully recovered.


    The Grant County Braves went to battle against the Simon Kenton Pioneers on Feb. 22 hoping that their team would be cutting down the nets and taking home the championship trophy in the district tournament.

    With only a few seconds left, the Pioneers dashed the Braves’ hope for a district win when a three-point shot went in giving the Pioneers a 67-66 victory.

  • Lady Demons fall short in districts

    The Williamstown Lady Demons basketball team met the Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers on Feb. 20 at Williamstown High School to compete in the 2013 32nd district tournament.
    With an overall record of 12-16, the Lady Demons were poised to place competitively in the tournament that the team has been working toward all season.  However, as the first tournament game drew near, half of the team was stricken by sickness.

  • Lady Braves beat Lady Cats in OT

    The Grant County Lady Braves met the Walton-Verona Lady Bearcats on Jan. 20  in the first match-up in the District Tournament at Williamstown High.
    A last second shot by senior Billie Hearn iced the win for the Lady Braves by a score of 40-39.
    Prior to the districts, GCHS Lady Braves Coach Shawn West said his team spent the last 10 days working hard on a game plan to face the Lady Cats.

  • Grant Braves roll past Villa Madonna

    The Grant County Braves traveled north to Villa Madonna for a showdown on Saturday, Jan. 12.

  • Demons fall to W-V Bearcats

    The Williamstown Demons are still struggling for a win despite the team’s persistent work and improvements. The team attempted to “Cage Those Cats” on Jan. 10 at Williamstown High School against the Walton-Verona Bearcats.

  • Demons celebrate homecoming

    Williamstown High School celebrated the new year with their annual homecoming night on Jan. 5. Students from the middle and high schools were selected to represent their respective classes in the night’s homecoming court, each vying for the winning title.

    The Williamstown Demons basketball team faced Villa Madonna with the hope of starting the calendar year with a win. Despite showing significant improvements midway through the season, the Demons were unable to secure a win. Their overall season record is 2-12.
