    The Tom Duncan and Arby’s-Shoney’s little league baseball team beat Ft. Mitchell Garage 9-6 in come-from-behind fashion.

    With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, and Grant behind 4-2, scored seven runs for the win.

    Two Grant County High School runners finished in the top three spots of the state track and field meet recently: junior Kelli Phillippi and senior Marlon Kinsey.

  • Demons get first wins of the season

    When: May 20, 21
    Where: Paris High School and Bracken County High School
    What: Issac Alger lead the way for the Demons against Paris as he threw seven innings of shutout baseball, only throwing 63 pitches. Against Bracken County, the Demons were led by Zach Rose as he clubbed two home runs and drove in four runs.

  • State Bound: GCHS, WHS track qualify for the state meet

    With the school year winding down this week and high school graduation on May 27, five seniors and five underclassmen will be heading to Louisville to compete in the KHSAA Track and Field State Championships May 27-28.


    In the second year of the program, Williamstown High School will have four students competing in the state meet after competing in the regional meet at the Walton-Verona Sports Complex May 20 in Verona.

    Senior Steven Bradford qualified for two events, the 800 meter dash and the 4x400 meter relay.

    After defeating Williamstown for the first game of the district tournament, the Braves were defeated by Owen County 7-6.
    The game was very close throughout each inning.
    Ryan Wooten had two home runs and six RBIs.
    The Braves advanced to the first round of the regional tournament to take on South Oldham May 22.

  • Lady Demons get come-from-behind win over Eminence

    Senior night for the Lady Demons, celebrated the careers of seniors Shelly Cason, Ali Rich, Kayla Schultz and Tori Wilhoit May 5 against Eminence.

    “It was good,” Rich said. “It was nice to see what the parents and the other girls did to put this on for us and making us feel special.”

    The game didn’t start out the way the Lady Demons would have liked to started as they were trailing 5-1 in the fourth inning.

  • Lady Braves send seniors off with win

    It was a letter written by seniors Katelyn Roy and Taryn Biddle that brought Lady Braves softball coach Ott Reed back to coach the team.

    Now it was time for Reed and the rest of the Lady Braves to bid farewell to Biddle and Roy as they faced Trimble County for senior night May 12 at Grant County High School.

    “I left in 2007, and those two wrote me a personal note,” Reed said. “When the job was opened the following year I decided to come back for Roy and Biddle.”

    The Tom Duncan and Arby’s-Shoney’s team defeated the Bombers 3-2 in eight innings.
    Tyler Jones led the offense with three hits in four at bats.
    Starting pitcher Stanley Riley went 4 2/3  innings with one hit, two runs, one earned, nine walks and five strikeouts.
    Brian Meade came in relief to get the win, going 3 1/3 innings with four hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
