  • Lady Braves wins first game of the season

    When: Aug. 12
    Where: Western Hills High School
    What: The Lady Braves defeated Western Hills 4-2 to get their first win of the season. Mollie Pelfrey scored the first goal of the season on a penalty kick. Pelfrey added another in the second half along with Alexis Willen and Emerald Fry. Emily Tillman and Nicole Norman were key on the defensive front and goalkeeper Mackenzie Tucker blocked 14 shots and allowed two goals.

  • Soccer alums chase down current players in alumni games

     

    Soccer alumni took their skills to the field, playing scrimmage games against the Grant County High School boys and girls soccer teams Aug. 12 at the Grant County Middle School field.   • Shipp holds anchor on GCHS sports

    Seven years ago, Grant County High School hired alumnus Scott Shipp as their athletic director.

    It was a dream job for Shipp, who has seen many changes since he took over, including the addition of tennis and wrestling programs, to the new $632,000 press box for the football field.

  • Lady Demons fall to Trimble County

    When: Aug. 8
    Where: Eagle Creek Country Club
    What: The Lady Demons lost their first match of the season, losing to Trimble County 223-249.
    Results: Carly Middleton 55, Sarah Hicks 59, Hannah Scroggins 63, Shelby Gutman 72, Rachel Justice 81.

  • Lady Braves drop first game of the season

    What: The Lady Braves drop two of three sets to Dayton, losing their first game of the season.  
    Results: 18-25 W, 25-14 L, 25-14, L

  • Grant County golfers represented in NKY 7-UP tour

    Five golfers from Grant County competed in the Northern Kentucky Junior Golf 7-UP tour, which concluded with a two-round championship tournament, July 25-26 at Lassing Pointe and Boone County Links Golf Course.

    Zach Wright, who graduated in June and is attending NKU this fall on a golf scholarship, placed third in his age group, shooting a two-day total of 158, five strokes short of winner Chris Desmarias.

  • Barnett signs to play at Asbury

    Logan Barnett wasn’t sure he was going to make the Grant County Braves soccer team when he was 12, but flash forward six years and Barnett has signed an athletic scholarship to play collegiate soccer at Asbury University.

    “It feels great. I am excited,” he said.

  • Chip Away

    Lady Brave golfer Sarah Kellam chips a shot on hole one during the Grant County Invitational Aug. 2 at Eagle Creek Country Club. The Lady Braves came in fourth place. Kellam placed second overall, shooting a 72. “The course played well,” she said. “I was glad to see the girls come together and have a good outing here at home.” Next up for the Lady Braves is a meet at Owen County in the Lady Rebel Classic. Tee time is set for 1 p.m
