• New Year corporate fast.  This will be the first day of each month for 2013. There will be a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on the first day of the month at the church to pray together and break bread.

Parks dept. gears up for...

• YOUTH TENNIS
The next Rafael Nadal could get his start at the new Youth Tennis program for children ages 5 to 13 years old.
Three sessions teaching the fundamentals of tennis will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. June 3, June 10 and June 17 at Webb Park in Williamstown.
The cost is $15 per person and registration is required by 4 p.m. Friday, May 31.
Rackets and balls will be provided, but youth can also bring their own equipment.

Cody Rice and Dustin Graham, two auto tech seniors at Grant County High School, won second place in Kentucky’s Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition. The challenge was to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair the 2013 Ford Focus faster and better. With the timer set, each team faced their challenge at Heritage Hall (Rupp Arena) in Lexington. Ten Ford vehicles had been uniformly “bugged” with multiple ailments. The teams were given the car’s symptoms and they were off to work.

One Stop NKY Career Center...

The Grant County One Stop Northern Kentucky Career Center will be expanding its hours to five days a week beginning May 28.
The center, located currently in room 306 in the Grant County Courthouse in downtown Williamstown, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.

Braves fall to Bearcats in...

The Grant County Braves baseball team battled heat, humidity and hot parents in their 32nd district match up against the Walton-Verona Bearcats on May 19 at GCHS.

Temperatures hovered near 90 degrees, but parents and fans on both sides of the dugouts were even hotter as the Bearcats went on to beat the Braves 5-3.

Camp Cranium offers hands-on...

A new hands-on educational camp will combine Angry Birds, self-defense, anatomy and more this summer at Williamstown Elementary.
Camp Cranium, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 17- June 21, will allow students to problem solve, collaborate and create.
The camp is for incoming first through sixth graders at Williamstown Elementary for the 2013-14 school year.
The cost is $135 per person, which covers all expenses, lunch, snack and a T-shirt. Breakfast is not provided.

Prokopchak, Kinsey compete in...

The Williamstown track and field team closed out its 2013 season on May 10 at the Class 1A Region 4 Championships hosted by Walton-Verona High School at the Walton Verona Athletic Complex located in Verona.  The top two in each event and the next 10 best performances among the seven Class 1A regions compiled results qualify for the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships that will be held at the University of Louisville on May 17-18.
