Today's Opinions

  • WORTH REPEATING:

“Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.”
     ~Mary Anne Radmacher

  • A WORD FROM OUR READERS . . .

The House should have done smart thing

  • Good citizen, indeed

Fred Domaschko doesn’t consider himself a hero. He told the Grant County Fiscal Court he was just doing what his parents had taught him to do when he found a 3-year-old boy standing on the side of Interstate-75 in Williamstown on a cold, snowy night earlier this month. (See story on page 3.)
Domaschko dialed 911 and waited with the little guy until help arrived.
As it turns out, the child managed to get out of his home and walk for over a mile and a half, down an embankment before he was discovered.

  • I don’t think we’d go that far

Often we’re challenged with a rhetorical question: “Would you give up your life for someone you love?”
I think most of us would answer, yes, of course I would. No question.

  • Online content moves to subscription based Feb. 24

You may have seen the story on the front of last week’s Grant County News concerning our website moving to a paid model.
On Thursday next week, the Grant County News website www.grantky.com will become a subscription-based news and information source.
This does NOT mean there will no longer be a printed version of the Grant County News. We received a phone call after the story appeared, asking if the rumor was true that the Grant County News would only be on the web.

  • WORTH REPEATING:

“The art of living is more like wrestling than dancing.” ~Marcus Aurelius

  • An enjoyable time at an unexpected place

I’m pretty sure I would not look good in tights.
There is simply nowhere to hide all of the neglected exercise.
Speedos, therefore, would probably be a bad idea as well.
Simply put, I could not be a professional wrestler.
The Flyin’ Bryan is not a catchy name in the least.
These outlandish thoughts came to me rather quickly when I recently went to a WWE, that’s World Wrestling Entertainment for the uninitiated, event in Cincinnati with my dad and older brother.
I have never been a fan of wrestling.

  • Policies must help create jobs

The General Assembly returned to full session this week in Frankfort and the Senate continued to focus on initiatives that will protect taxpayer dollars and the unborn.
