  • What are the benefits of dormant oil sprays?

A healthy fruit crop from your favorite fruit tree can dramatically increase with some late winter attention.  Pruning is key to healthy fruit trees and fruit production.
You can prune any time after the threat of harsh winter weather is over until just before the tree is in full bloom.  Prune out any winter damage, branches that grow inward and crowded limbs.

  • County attorney looks forward to continuing service

In addition to working with law enforcement and citizens to prosecute thousands of traffic, criminal and juvenile cases every year, the Grant County Attorney’s Office provides a number of services for the citizens of Grant County.

  • Fiscal court can’t defend incompetency

Fiscal court, you can’t defend your incompetency with more incompetency.
When asked why you didn’t see the budgetary problems coming you can’t defend yourself by just saying you didn’t want to raise taxes last year.
Your job is to raise taxes if by doing so you are acting in the best interest of the county.

  • Some of the best days haven’t happened yet

    Love.
That’s the theme of the entire month of February.
But for upwards of 50 percent of the population of the U.S., that’s not a theme worth celebrating.  This month only serves as a painful reminder of heartaches and disenchantment from the Disney fairy-tale dream they were promised by today’s culture.

  • Skunks on the move

It is that time of year again and I am reminded because of the smell and road kill left behind. Plus, a strong scent of skunk has been lingering in the pasture this past week; and I got an Instagram video from my niece as she was clearly backing away from a lumbering black and white rodent down by the river!
We used to get them circling the house on winter evenings but our livestock guardian dogs’ presence has kept them from bay the last few years.  Their presence is not surprising, however, because it is mating season for skunks and they are on the move!

  • Ark employee addresses community

I am an employee at the Ark. I have been telling Grant County businesses they need to step up and get motels, restaurants and a decent campground.  I also wrote to the governor.
I also told the governor that is not just for the Ark, but the travelers, vacationers, and residents.
I have worked there since we opened on July 7, 2016.  I have met people from all over the World. Australia, Africa, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Poland, etc. A lot of our “guests” tell me we are the nicest people.

  • Can we trust our news media?

Did Donald Trump mock a disabled reporter?
Surely you saw the video of President Trump appearing to mock a disabled reporter as it was all over the news media and social media. Hillary Clinton made reference to the video during the campaign.
The video is still being shown and people are believing, even today, that he mocked a disabled reporter simply because they “saw it”.

  • Great once again

Our nation experienced a wonderful American political tradition, as we witnessed the peaceful transfer of executive power. The new president assumed office riding a wave of voter enthusiasm not seen since Reagan.
For an accurate barometer of that enthusiasm, one should look beyond even the popular vote totals and the Electoral College. The Republican Party now holds 33 governor’s offices, 32 State Legislatures and has control of both legislative branches and the governorship in 24 states.
