  • GC Historical Society looks forward to 2011

    The Wiliam Arnold Log House in Williamstown has closed for the winter months. We expect to reopen for tours and visitors in mid March 2011, depending on the weather.
    Thanks to the volunteers from the Grant County Historical Society who served as hosts and welcomed approximately 300 visitors to this Grant County landmark.

    How many American freedoms will be taken in the name of “keeping us safe?” A great number of Americans have sacrificed their dignity, self-respect and personal freedoms by allowing a government agency to manipulate them into subjecting themselves to new regulations set by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), all in the name of keeping us safe from terrorists.

    Crittenden Baptist Challengers did trash pick up on Oct. 23, on two roads. There was still a lot of trash along the road. It was cleaner than last year. I hope people are understanding not to litter on the sides of the roads. It was a great day to be outside in great weather.
    I want to thank Grant County to give me the chance to pick up trash and make our county cleaner. We also picked up four tires and a big wire cage.
    Maybe next year we won’t have to pick up as much trash as this year. It was exciting and fun and I can’t wait until next year.

    Our president appeared on national TV in 1972 and told the nation that it was out of oil. There was much speculation that it was simply a lie by big oil to prepare the nation for the increased prices of foreign oil.

  • JROTC boosters appreciate support

    On Sept. 18, the Grant County JROTC cadets hosted their fourth Annual Raider/Drill meet at the Grant County High School campus. With 16 schools participating, our JROTC cadets did an outstanding job conducting the day’s events. In addition to the cadets running the nine different events for the day, this was also one of the biggest fundraisers for the JROTC Booster organization. We prepared and sold food for the 800 participants and spectators, instructors and parents that came. This was also a great success because of parental involvement and community support.
