Breelyn knows she’s been waiting longer than other kittens, even though she’s more charming. As someone admires brighter colored kittens below her, Breelyn stretches her paw from her cage to tap the person. It’s almost as if the formally dressed little lady knows how to cut in for a dance.
Even then, people ignore adorable Breelyn…and other black kittens. Black kittens are the least likely ones to leave shelters alive. They’re victims of silly myths left over from Europe’s Middle Ages. Those myths led to very real bad luck. When black cats were destroyed, the rodents they had controlled spread the bubonic plague.
Meanwhile, other cultures, Scotland, Japan and Egypt, and British sailors decided black cats brought blessings. Breelyn wants to prove that’s no myth.
