  • Goodrich named April YPA winner

     The Youth Performance Award winner for April is Ashley Goodrich, a senior at Grant County High School.

    Goodrich, 17, is the daughter of Kimberly and Jim Goodrich of Corinth.

    Deputy Mike Garvey investigated an accident at 3:15 p.m. May 3 on South Main Street in Crittenden. An unknown driver involved hit Chadwick J. Haggard, 18, of Dry Ridge driving a 1994 Volkswagen.

    Deputy Lee Jacobs investigated an accident at 2:30 p.m. May 4 on Jonesville Road. The driver involved was Danielle N. McCubbin, 21, of Williamstown driving a 1990 Nissan.

  • Redemption Road leads to Grant County

     

    Looking for a way to reach out to the community and pay for sending a dozen teenagers to camp, Grassy Run Baptist Church is hosting a benefit concert.

  • Perkins-Keitz set date

    Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Perkins of Mayfield, Ky. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Beth Perkins to Nicholas Allen Keitz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Keitz of Dry Ridge.

    The wedding is being planned for 6:30 p.m. June 6 at First Baptist Church in Mayfield, Ky. A reception will follow at Mayfield-Graves Country Club.

    The bride is a 1999 graduate of Mayfield High School. She is also a 2003 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She is employed by Power Creative in Louisville.

  • Beating the odds

    Jeannie Broyles has dealt with cancer for the past three years, going in and out of hospitals, but also relying on a home away from home.

    Broyles was diagnosed Christmas Eve 2006 with multiple myeloma, a blood-borne cancer of plasma cells which erodes the bones, “making honeycomb of the bones” as her husband, John, said.

  • Hanington-Lab to wed

    Kevin Hanington of Indiana and Susan Hanington of Howell, Mich. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Hanington to Anthony Lab, son of Richard and Brenda Hutchinson of Grant County.

    The wedding is being planned for 6 p.m. May 30, 2009, at Florence Nature Park.

    The bride is a 2001 graduate of Ryle High School. She is also a graduate of Northern Kentucky University. She is employed by Fifth Third Bank.

  • Camacho named one of top baseball officials in state

    When Marcus Camacho started to umpire baseball games, it was because he was looking to find a way to stay connected to the game.

    He continued umpiring because he loved it and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association took notice, naming him one of the top four baseball officials for the state out of 4,000 officials.

    “To be one of the four, it’s great company to be in,” Camacho said. “I feel honored. Knowing that I was sitting with the best of the best and being recognized was an honor.”

  • DAR holds annual awards ceremony

    The Captain John Lillard Chapter KSDAR, Dry Ridge, held their annual awards day reception April 11.

    The good citizenship awards were presented to the first and second place winners of the essay contest. The subject of their essay was “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It.”
