  • Kicking a bad habit

    Sitting at my fiancé’s farewell party from Home Depot, I noticed that one of the television’s in the Mellow Mushroom had the show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on.
    I normally do not watch this show, as it can be heartbreaking to watch these struggling families deal with medical issues or worse, a loss of life.

    My grandfather met his future wife when he went calling on her older sister, Katherine. The second time he drove the buggy to the house it was to see Holly. She stood just at 5 feet tall, had long black hair, and what could best be described as flashing dark eyes. He was a big fellow, something over 6 feet, and had played football at Centre College in Danville.



  • Asher named to dean’s list

    Joshua M. Asher of Williamstown was named to the fall 2010 dean’s list at Pikeville College. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must receive a grade-point average of 3.5 (B+) or better. Pikeville College is an independent, four-year liberal arts and sciences college nestled in the heart of central Appalachia.


    Jaclyn Fitzgerald, a fifth grader at Dry Ridge Elementary School, has been chosen for the 2011 All-State Children’s Chorus, the highest level of recognition for vocal music students in the state of Kentucky.
    She auditioned a recorded audio and was selected from over 600 entries and she will perform at the annual conference of the Kentucky Music Educator’s Association Feb. 10, at the Galt House in Louisville.

    Isaac Espicio is WES Primary Student of the Week. He is in Julie Stanley’s kindergarten class.
    “Isaac comes to school each day ready to learn,” Stanley said. “He always puts forth his best ever and is a great friend to others.  He is a bright spot in my day and makes each day so special!”

    Autumn Fryman is WES Intermediate Student of the Week. She is in Anna Thompson’s fourth grade class.

    Williamstown students chosen for Northern Ky. Honor Choir

    Fifteen Williamstown Junior/Senior High students were recently selected as members of the Northern Kentucky Honor Choir.

    The Northern Kentucky High School Honor Choir was held in November at Northern Kentucky University under the direction of Dr. Randy Pennington.
