    Each year the Grant County Chamber of Commerce accepts nominations from across the county for their annual community awards giving all Grant County citizens a chance to be recognized as Grant Countian of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Excellence in Education and Excellence in Business, as well as a community service award, which is given periodically to individuals, organizations and businesses who go above and beyond.

  • Braves continue 7-game winning streak

    The Grant County High School Baseball team has found a rhythm and are on a seven-game winning streak.

    “The players are finally getting timely hits, running the bases well and just doing the little things it takes to win. They are playing team baseball,” said Coach Darrin Robinson.

    Robinson credited several players including Jordan Martin, Ben Shipp, Jason Goe, Blake Dills and Lucas Alger for giving 100 percent working hard and playing consistently.

  • GCHS Hosts Invitational

    Grant County High School hosted the Grant County Invitational Track Meet on April 26. Grant County High School Seniors Nick Braun and Jarred Baker, as well as Jeremy Dunn, center, the track team manager, were recognized at the start of the meet by GCHS Coach Chris Jefferson (above.)

    Braun went on to place third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.80.
    Williamstown had two atheletes, Hannah Kinsey and Alex Prokopchak compete. Kinsey participated in the 800, while Prokopchak won the girls long jump event and placed second in the triple jump.

  • GCMS soccer team kicks way to Owen win

    The Grant County Middle Soccer team won the Owen County Classic on April 20.
    “I was very happy that we won,” said Coach Garrett Griffith. “One of our main goals at the beginning of the season was to win the tournament.”
    The GCMS soccer team has 25 players. At the Owen County Classic, they competed against Grant County, Carroll County and Owen County. The GCMS Braves beat Carroll 5 -1 and Owen 6 - 0.

  • GCMS Family Fun Fitness

    The Grant County Middle School students and staff, parents and community members recently had a family fun and fitness night at the GCMS gym.
    The guest speaker, Justin Baker, owner of Body Works Gym, encouraged all the guests to “believe in themselves” in order to enjoy a better quality of life, which includes eating nutritional foods and exercising.
