  • Super Survivor Sunday is May 5

    Nearly everyone knows someone who has been impacted by cancer.
    In honor of cancer survivors, caregivers and family and friends affected by cancer, Sunday, May 5 has been designated as Super Survivor Sunday by the Grant County Relay For Life Committee.
    The Grant County Relay For Life Committee is encouraging all Grant County churches to recognize and honor their cancer survivors in some way on Sunday, May 5 for Super Survivor Sunday.

    Williamstown-Grant Preschool
    sets open enrollment

    The Grant County-Williamstown Head Start/Preschool will have open enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. by appointment only. The dates are April 18, April 23, April 25, April 30 and May 2. Eligibility is determined by state and federal guidelines. Universal screening for all children. For more information, contact the program at 824-4174.

  • Got talent? GCMS does

    The Grant County Middle School students recently showed their skills at the GCMS Talent Show.

    The performing artists included dance, gymnastics, singing, guitar playing and the drums in their routines. The winners were:

    • Entertainer of the Year (Top
    Performance) – Shane Drew

    • Singing Solo– Haley Bryan
    Second place – Alvin Morris
    Third place – Tie  Devany Stroude and Carley Renee Thomas

  • Braves fall to Pioneers 3-0

    The Grant County Braves fell victim to the Simon Kenton Pioneers on April 10 by a score of 3-0 and to Bourbon County on April 12 by a score of 5-0, but on their home turf they beat the Walton-Verona Bearcats 12-0 on April 15.

    “We’re 7 -9 on the season and could very well be 9-7,” said Head Coach Darrin Robinson.
    Robinson said the team is learning daily and getting better at the little things they need to in order to win games.
    The Braves are focusing on hitting.

  • Lady Braves beat Lady Demons 18-3

     

    The Grant County Lady Braves handily defeated their cross-county rival the Williamstown Lady Demons on April 10 by a score of 18-3.
    “We hit the ball well,” said Grant County Coach Jeremy Murrell.
    Murrell said his team gave an “outstanding effort.”
    “As a team we put runners on base every inning and got timely hits to move them around,” Murrell said.

    Lauren Poer is the Williamstown Elementary School Intermediate Student of the Week. She is 12-years-old and is in the sixth grade. She was selected by her GLOW teacher. At school she participated in GLOW and Odyssey of the Mind. She is also a junior cheerleader and band member. Math is her favorite subject.
