  • Lady Braves get one last go-round at home

    It hasn’t been an easy season for Grant County soccer coach Melinda White, but she has taken her program to a 7-7-2 record going into their final regular season home game.

    With the final game at home, the Lady Braves will be celebrating the careers of three seniors, Jackie Kinman, Renee Neltner and Rebecca Saylor, before the game.

    “Senior night is something these girls look forward to all year,” White said. “They are so excited to be recognized and honored.”

    Kinman is proud to be a part of this team.

  • Caudill-Hammond set date

    Rick and Chris Caudill of Hamilton, Ohio are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Megan Caudill to Josh Hammond, son of David and Linda Hammond of Dry Ridge.

    The wedding is being planned for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at First Love Fellowship. A reception will follow at the American Legion.

    The bride is a 2003 graduate of Hamilton High School. She is also a 2007 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.

  • Braves fall to 2-4 on the season

    After losing a tough game to Anderson County, the Grant County football team came back home, but it wasn’t sweet, as they lost to Bourbon County 15-7, Oct. 1.

    The loss put the Braves to 2-4 on the season, three straight losses since defeating Pendleton County 31-0 on homecoming night.

    “I was very proud of the fight our boys had that night,” head coach Mike Davis said about the team’s performance. “We had to make some adjustments on defense and we had to pack the box and play well.”

  • Braves football falls to Anderson Co. 46-7

    Score: 46-7 L

    When: Sept. 24

    Where: Anderson County High School

    What: The Braves lost their first district game of the season on the road to Anderson County. Grant County was only able to muster one touchdown against a big defensive line of Anderson County. The loss dropped the Braves to 2-3 on the season. They will return home to face Bourbon County, Oct. 1. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Mohammed teaches that it is fine to lie to an infidel if it promotes Islam. I do not believe him. Why does he call it “The Cordoba Project?” When Islam defeated Christian Spain, the third largest mosque in the world was erected in Cordoba, Spain, to signify Islams victory over Christianity.

    Dry Ridge

    Chief Rick Kells investigated an accident at 2:23 p.m. Sept. 24 on Blackburn Lane. The drivers involved were Rebecca S. Perry, 25, of Corinth, driving a 2006 Chrysler and Chandral K. Bamforth, 35, of DeMossville, driving a 2005 Hyundai.

    The Dry Ridge police department investigated an accident involving an out of county resident.

  • Lady Braves seeing improvement after fifth win

    For Lady Braves volleyball coach Kelli Lee, this has been a season to forget to this point, but she is beginning to sense improvement of her players after defeating Gallatin County in the Carroll County Invitational, Sept. 25.

    “The win was nice, because we got it in two sets,” Lee said about the matches (25-20, 25-20).”

    The win marked their fifth of the season and first one since Grant County defeated Owen County, Sept. 14 (25-16, 25-22).

  • Demons cross-country team runs in the Hillbilly Run

    Where: Hilbilly Run, Bardstown

    What: Senior Steven Bradford led Williamstown to an eighth place finish in the Hillbilly Run. Bradford led all Demon runners with a time of 17:21.49 and a seventh place finish individually.

    Upcoming: Demons will run in the Walton-Verona Invitational Oct. 2, in Verona.

    Results: Steven Bradford (7), Drew Harris (46), Hunter Pendleton (54), Christopher Brann (58) Derrick King (62), Jake Reaves (63), Matt Lillard (96).
