  • O’Neal receives Navy promotion

    Navy Seaman Johnathan A. O’Neal, son of Belinda B. Lee of Williamstown and Steven A. O’Neal, of Independence, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
    O’Neal received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

  • Link completes Navy training

     Joshua “Brent” Link, a 2009 graduate of Grant County High School, completed Navel Basic Training. The graduation ceremony took place at the Great Lakes, Ill. Training facility on Sept. 9 before he left for his duty station and “A” school at Fort Leonard Wood in Mo. Link is in training for the field of Equipment Operations ( SEABEE). Link is the son of Tim and Laura Link of Jonesville. 

  • Clark completes basic training

    Navy Seaman Charles E. Clark, Jr, son of Delia Clark of Erlanger and Charles E. Clark of Dry Ridge, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
    During the eight-week program, Clark completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

  • Tim and Sue Covington

    Tim and Sue Covington of Williamstown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Grant County Farm Bureau Community Room, Helton Heights, in Williamstown.
    William Timothy Covington and Sue Ellen Knight were married by Bro. Buford Odor at the Mt. Olivet Church of Christ in Williamstown on Oct. 14, 1961.

  • Ritch - Carrig set date

    Jeann Ritch of Carrollton is pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Andrea Ritch to Colby Carrig, son of Tom and Darlene Carrig of Dry Ridge.
    The wedding is being planned for 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 at St. William Catholic Church in Williamstown. A reception will follow at the church.
    The bride is a 2007 graduate of Carroll County High School. She is employed by Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation.
    The groom is a 2006 graduate of Grant County High School. He is employed by Rural/Metro Ambulance.

    Dry Ridge

    Chief Rick Kells executed a warrant for Derek M. Blades, 18, of Williamstown, for failure to pay fines, at 1p.m. on Sept. 28 on Blackburn Drive. Blades was also charged with theft by unlawful taking and a pre-trial diversion  violation. Blades was lodged at the Grant County Detention Center.
