  • Bomb threat briefly evacuates GCMS

    Grant County Middle School was briefly evacuated Nov. 9 while law enforcement investigated a bomb threat.
    The investigation stemmed from a message written in a bathroom stall in a women’s restroom at the school claiming that the school would blow up in the sixth hour.
    Grant County Sheriff Chief Deputy Brian Maines said the school was evacuated while the sheriff’s office, Kentucky State Police and school officials searched for anything suspicious inside the building.

  • Grant County Sheriff to serve on board of directors

    The Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association held their 87th annual conference recently in Owensboro. This year’s conference was well attended with over 100 sheriffs in attendance and over 150 sheriffs and deputies participating in 40 hours of training.
    According to Jerry Wagner, executive director of the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association Grant County Sheriff Chuck Dills was elected to serve on the board of directors for the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association for 2017.

    Officer KJ Little executed a warrant for Lindsey N. Kappes, 31, of Dry Ridge, for non-payment of fines, at 11:51 p.m. Oct. 21 on Blackburn Drive. Kappes was lodged at the Grant County Detention Center.
    Officer KJ Little cited a juvenile, 16, of Dry Ridge, with no registration plates, at 10:34 p.m. Oct. 22 on Charlotte Heights.

    Deputy Barry Mullins executed a warrant for James C. Simons, 19, of Dry Ridge, for contempt of court, at 2:26 a.m. March 15 on Dixie Highway. Simons was lodged at the Grant County Detention Center.
