    Capt. Dennis Switzer executed a warrant for Lauren M. Taylor, 26, of Williamstown, for failure to appear to court, at 9 a.m. Aug. 19 on Barnes Road. Taylor was lodged at the Grant County Detention Center.

  • Grant students visit Morehead State University

    Students from Grant County High School visited the Morehead State University campus, as part of the Early College Program recently.

    More than 50 high and technical schools offered MSU classes during the fall semester with more than 2,000 high school students participating in the program.

  • Lady Demons fall to Gallatin County

    The Williamstown Lady Demons volleyball team looked to play off their momentum Aug. 21 from their win at Eminence the night before.

    However, they lost in another tough defeat to the Gallatin County Lady Wildcats in three straight sets (25-20, 25-12 and 25-16).

    The loss moves the team to a 1-3 record.
    Williamstown played their second home game of the season in front of a great crowd that cheered on their team regardless of the outcome.

  • Grant boys down Blue Lightning 3-0

    The Grant County boys soccer team continued their early-season success Aug. 20 with a 3-0 win against Villa Madonna.

    The victory in a physical game against the Blue Lightning moved the Braves to 2-0 on the season.
    The Braves were able to pull in goals by senior Kaleb Willoughby, sophomore Ashton Johnson and junior Austin Willliams, while a duo of goalkeepers shut out the Lightning.

  • Lady Demons fall to Walton in volleyball opener

    The Williamstown Lady Demons fell in straight sets at Walton Verona in the opener to their volleyball season on Aug. 17.

    Williamstown found it difficult to get on a consistent groove and could not muster enough strength against a strong looking Walton squad.

    In the first set, Walton quickly jumped out to an eight-point lead and it was a challenge for the Lady Demons to try and stop the Lady  Cats’ momentum.

    Williamstown fell in the first set by a score of 25 -8.
