  • Braves draw tough district in football realignment

    The Grant County Braves football team finished with a 1-9 record last season.

    Things will not be getting any easier for GCHS after the Kentucky High School Athletic Board of Control announced its football realignment plan for the 2015-18 seasons.Grant County will play their familiar foes of Connor, Cooper, Scott and South Oldham high schools for the 2014 season before the changes go into effect.


    When a tornado ripped through Crittenden a couple of years ago, Carolyn Thomas Thompson threw on a pair of blue jeans, grabbed an umbrella and drove to the area, leaving her car parked a distance away from Harvesters’s, she personally began walking the streets and checking on her clients.

  • Dry Ridge man busted for pot growing operation

    An indoor marijuana grow operation has been shut down in Dry Ridge.
    The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force about the alleged operation at the Harrison Ridge Road home of  60-year-old Laurel Kenney Jr.

  • Inmate death brings lawsuit

    The estate of an inmate who ultimately died after suffering medical issues at the Grant County Detention Center has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
    Mark Burden filed the lawsuit in federal court in Covington as representative of the estate of Danny Ray Burden.
    The allegations include violation of civil rights, negligence, infliction of emotional distress, wrongful death and conspiracy.
    The many defendants include Jailer Terry Peeples, multiple jail employees, an inmate trustee and employees of Advanced Correctional Healthcare.


    Neighbors in Warsaw Place Apartments in Dry Ridge were surprised to find five police cars sitting in their parking lot when word spread that something was taking place on May 7.

  • Community garden needs volunteers for planting

    Can you dig it?
    The folks behind the Grant County Distribution Garden hope you can and will as annual planting is set to begin.
    The Distribution Garden was created in 2010 on Hopperton Lane in Dry Ridge as a way to benefit seniors and families in need.
    Three satellite gardens will also be tended to this year at Helton Heights and Parkview Manor in Williamstown and Meadowview in Dry Ridge.
    Plants and seeds will also be provided to three local daycares who will need some assistance getting the soil ready for planting.
