  • WHS Band of Spirit places third at Class 2A Midstates Championships

    Name of competition:  2015 MSBA Class 2A Championships

    Location and date:  Northmont High School, Clayton, Ohio on Nov. 7

    Ranking and any awards:   The Williamstown “Band of Spirit” Marching Band placed third out of the 17 competing bands in the preliminary competition. In the finals competition, the BOS placed third out of the 10 competing bands. Carroll High School (OH) placed second and Taylor County (KY) placed first.

  • Braves’ season ends with 28-27 heartbreaking playoff loss

    A nightmare first half turned into a near miraculous, history-making finish Nov. 6 for the Grant County football team.
    Unfortunately, the Braves came up one-point short of winning their first ever playoff game, falling 28-27 to Madison Southern.

    Grant trailed 28-7 at halftime after scoring their only points on a 22-yard TD pass from Joe Knipp to Robert Spohn.
    “Turnovers and special teams killed us,” Coach Kevin Siple said.

Linder currently serves as a policy advisor with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) in Frankfort.

  • Wet vote set for Dec. 22

    The decision whether or not Grant County goes “wet” will be in the hands of the voters on Dec. 22.
    Judge-Executive Stephen Wood has issued an order setting a vote on the county-wide sale of alcohol after a citizen petition was certified allowing the special election.
    “There are certain constraints in the statute as to when you are to set wet dry votes and having just completed a general election, this is the first date that works at a time when the schools are not in session and can be used as polling places,” Wood said.


    The Ark Encounter, a full-scale replica of Noah’s Ark will open next summer.
    Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis, will name the specific date in July 2016  when the Biblical theme park will open in Williamstown, at a press conference on Thursday, Nov. 12.
