The Williamstown Independent School Board will soon have a vacancy.
School board member Pete Whaley withdrew his name for consideration for a second term a day after the Aug. 12 candidate filing deadline.
Whaley, who joined the board in January 2011, also submitted his resignation to the Kentucky Commissioner of Education on Aug. 15.
Whaley’s wife, Tonya Whaley, is the choice of the school district’s hiring committee for a position at Williamstown.
With her pending employment, Whaley could no longer serve on the school board.
