Recently, students from Williamstown Independent Schools as well as others across the state participated in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s 2012 Adopt-a-Highway poster contest.

 “The purpose of the contest is to increase environmental awareness among children,” said Transportation Secretary Mike Hancock. “We hope to educate our young people about the damaging effects of litter, and to change attitudes and behaviors about littering.”

Susan Northcutt, a graduated of Williamstown High School, has been awarded the Transylvania Trustee Scholarship.
The trustee scholarship has been awarded to 42 incoming first-year students from six states and 39 high schools.
Academically, the trustee scholars have an average ACT score of 31 and an average high school GPA of 3.96. Northcutt is the daughter of Leslie Neace and Rob Northcutt.
