Grant seeks new student enrollment

Any new student (kindergarten – grade 12) planning to attend Grant County Schools during the 2010-2011 school year is encouraged to complete enrollment paperwork at the Grant County Schools Welcome Center. You must register by calling the center, at 859-428-5499, to schedule an appointment.

GCHS graduate studies agriculture in Scotland

Growing up on a farm, Lindie Huffman learned to love all aspects of agriculture.

Now, the 22-year-old is hoping to turn that passion into a career while studying agriculture education at the University of Kentucky and half way across the world.

“I can’t decide if I like produce or livestock or mechanics,” said Huffman, a 2006 Grant County High School graduate. “I like it all. That way of life has given so much to me that I want to give back.”

Williamstown sets enrollment dates

Any parent/guardian wishing to enroll their child in the Williamstown Independent School District as a new student for the 2010-2011 school year may pick up an enrollment packet from the Williamstown Board of Education Office.

The completed paperwork and required documentation may be returned to the board of education office during regular business hours or returned to the Williamstown Welcome Center during open enrollment from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 8 and July 22 and from 5 to 8 p.m. July 21.

Local students named to CU dean’s and president’s lists

Lee Michael Page of Crittenden and Aaron Michael Hutchinson of Dry Ridge have been named to the dean’s list at Campbellsville University for the spring 2010 semester. Both students are seniors.

Sarah Elizabeth Rose, a senior from Dry Ridge, has been named to the president’s list.

WHS donates money, supplies to St. Elizabeth cancer center

Williamstown Independent Schools recently proved that spare pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters add up.

The Williamstown High School Key Club, a teen service organization through Williamstown Kiwanis, organized the “Coin Battle for Comfort” from April 26-30 in order to raise funds for the St. Elizabeth Grant County Cancer Services Center.
