Isaiah Magee is Williamstown Elementary School Primary Student of the Week.  He is in Michelle Whaley’s second grade class.
“He is one awesome dude,” Whaley said. “He is sweet, polite, and always eager to learn.”
Isaiah’s favorite book is “Mr. Baseball.” His favorite subject is math and he likes gym and recess.
 

Destiny Wallace is Williamstown Elementary School Primary Student of the Week. She is in June Bodenhamer’s second grade class.
“Destiny was chosen as student of the week because she is always well prepared,” Bodenhamer said. “Her homework is always completed on time and it is extremely neat.  She demonstrates good listening skills; she follows the classroom and schools rules; and she gets along well with her classmates. Destiny gives 100 percent all of the time. It is a real joy having Destiny as a student.”

Coleen Lynn Ellis and Diana Clifton recently were awarded $1,000 scholarships for non-traditional students attending Northern Kentucky University Grant County Center.
The scholarships, which are given out twice a year, are provided by the Grant County Conservation District.
Ellis, 41, of Dry Ridge, is the daughter of Virginia Lowe and Joe B. Williams. She has three children, Autumn, Dorothy and Isaiah.
Ellis said she wants to be a geologist and work with the community to better the ways of taking care of what the world has been blessed with.

The Grant County JROTC teams traveled to Mount Sterling, where they competed against nine other high school JROTC units at the Montgomery County High School Invitational Raider and Drill Competition on Oct. 30.

Morehead University and The University of Kentucky’s Senior ROTC Scholarship and Enrollment Officers were in attendance to observe the competition and talk to the JROTC cadets about their schools and how cadets could continue their education at the next level of learning institutions.
