  • GCMS Family Fun Fitness

    The Grant County Middle School students and staff, parents and community members recently had a family fun and fitness night at the GCMS gym.
    The guest speaker, Justin Baker, owner of Body Works Gym, encouraged all the guests to “believe in themselves” in order to enjoy a better quality of life, which includes eating nutritional foods and exercising.

  • Thompson named to Dean’s List at EKU

    Kody Thompson of Dry Ridge has made the dean’s list in the college of health sciences for the fall 2012 semester.

    .Thompson earned a 4.0 grade point average, in recognition of this he also made the President’s List for the fall semester 2012.  Only a few students excel to the point of perfection during a semesters work.

    Thompson is pursuing a bachelors degree in physical science degree majoring in physical therapy.
    His projected graduation date is the summer of 2013.

  • MacAdams competes in Poetry Out Loud

    Each spring the Kentucky Arts Council hosts the state-wide Poetry Out Loud competition for high school students. Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation competition funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, The Poetry Foundation and state arts agencies like the Kentucky Arts Council. Its purpose is to promote the art of poetry in both the classroom and the community and to encourage students to learn poetry through memorization and performance.

  • NOTEWORTHY

    Cadet Kilian Altman of Corinth received a $5,000 scholarship to attend Forest Hill Military Academy in Millersburg from the Twenty-First Scholarship Fund. The Twenty-First Scholarship Fund is designed to aid select students to attend Forest Hill Academy.

    The award was made based on application to Forest Hill Academy, need, citizenship, ability, and demonstrated work ethic.
    Altman hopes to attend the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington or WestPoint in New York.

    Altman is the son of Melissa Altman of Corinth.

    Gabriel Paloma is the WES Head Start a.m. Student of the Week. He is in Pam Mullin’s and Janet Griffith’s class. “He has great manners and is a great classroom helper,” Mullins said. His favorite thing to do as a family is to take a walk.

    Bowling makes Dean’s List at GCTC
    Karen Bowling has been named to the Dean’s List at Gateway Community and Technical College for the 2012 fall semester.
    To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
