Morgan Spann is the Grant County High School Youth Performance Award winner for November.

    She is a senior at GCHS and is the daughter of Mary and Robbie Nickell of Dry Ridge.

    Extra-curricular activities: I am involved in the Future Business Leaders of America.

    Community involvement: I almost always participate in Marigold Days. I attend Sherman Church of Christ and ring bells every year for the Salvation Army. I also provide a Samaritan shoebox for families in need.

    Sara Deaton is the Grant County High School Student of the Week. She is a sophomore and is in Chase Runyan’s class.
    “Sara is a huge help to other students.  Once she has a firm grasp on a topic, she never hesitates to aide others that need a little extra help.” Runyan said.
    Her favorite thing about school is science. Her favorite book is “Wild Fires”.
    She enjoys going out to eat with her family the most of all.

    Job title/school: RTI coordinator/reading specialist at Williamstown Independent Schools

    Job duties: organizing and designing reading programs that work, training teachers and parents, working with children that are critical with reading issues.

    Educational background: Masters in reading/then reading specialist, Springer Center - reading, Orton Gillingham trained

  • FFA Foundation distributes funds across the state

    Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer has pioneered the Kentucky Farm License Plate Program, allowing Kentucky Future Farmers of America and 4-H to directly benefit from the sale of agriculture tags.
    When a person purchases a Kentucky farm License plate, they have the opportunity to donate $10, which is divided equally between Kentucky FFA, Kentucky  4-H and Kentucky Proud.

    Brittany Brock is the Grant County High School Student of the Week. She is a senior and is in Mindy Roy’s class. “Brittany is dependable and sets a wonderful example of leadership. She is dedicated and always goes above and beyond all expectations.
    She is motivated, willing to work hard and demonstrates great perseverance and initiative She is destined for success.’ Roy said.

    Sawyer Cobb is the student of the week. Cobb is on the Aztec Team and is a great friend and a wonderful student.
    She’s kind and respectful to other students and her teachers, as well. She’s also proven to be an excellent writer.

     Her favorite thing about school is everything.
