    Betty Hunter, 66

    Betty Kinman Hunter, 66, of Crittenden, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

    She was a retired employee of the Grant County Board of Education, a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Williamstown and daughter of the late Hiram Samuel and Emma Sullivan Osbourn Kinman.

  • Alma Ashcraft, 91

    Alma Louise Ashcraft, 91, of Falmouth, formerly of Grant County, died Sunday, July 1, 2012.  

    Born in Williamstown, she lived for awhile in Denver, Co., before adventuring to California where she settled in the San Fernando Valley. After surviving a major earthquake in 1971, she relocated in Colorado Springs, Co., where she retired from the United States Post Office in 1980 and moved back to Falmouth.

    Chelsea Renee Wright Volker, 18, of Dry Ridge, died Sunday, July 1, 2012,  near Mason from injuries received in an auto accident.
    She was pregnant with a baby girl that died with her in the accident. She worked for KFC/Taco Bell in Dry Ridge and attended the Corinth Baptist Church.

  • Donald Johnson, 51

    Donald A. Johnson, 51, of Williamstown, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence.

    Donald was a retired minister at the Roanoke Christian Church, McGuffey Church of Christ and the Lystra Church of Christ. He was also a substitute teacher for Grant County Schools. He was currently a member of the Fairview Christian Church.

    James Dale Meece, 46, of Williamstown, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his residence.
    Survivors include his mother, Wanda Meece of Williamstown; sons, Matthew Meece of Crittenden and Jacob Meece of Dry Ridge; a sister, Lena Skinner of Williamstown; brothers, Charles Meece, Jr. of Crittenden, Gary Robin Meece of Williamstown, Justin Dan Meece of Williamstown and Robert Eugene Meece of Taylor Mill and four grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held on July 2 at the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge.

    Allyn Earl Dues, 70, of Stephenville, Texas, formerly of Grant County, died Friday, June 29, 2012.
    Survivors include his wife,  Janie R. Dues; a son, Brian Dues of Walton; daughters, Karen Welsh of Independence and Pam Tester of Elsmere; a sister, Hazel Long of Fla.; 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  
    Funeral services were held on July 3 at the Hamilton–Stanley Funeral Home in Verona.
    Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Zion Station.

    Ruby Downard, 88, of Williamstown, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.
    She was a homemaker; the daughter of the late Ira Otis and Oma Florence Florence and widow of Anderson Downard.
    Survivors include her sons, Jerry Downard of Williamstown and Ronald Downard of Dayton; a daughter, Judy Ann Truesdell of Hoschton, Ga; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
    No services were held.

    Sarah Gardner Whitson, 86, of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, June 26, 2012.
    Survivors include her sons, Jim Whitson of Paragould, Ark and Jerry Whitson of Lexington; a daughter, Peggy Parrish of Westerville, Ohio; sisters, Marianne Gardner of Williamstown, Viola Kinman of Fort Wright and Juanita Elslager of Burlington; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held on June 30 at the Ellsworth Chapel in Westerville, Ohio.
    Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.

    Ruth Lieske, 91, of Corinth, formerly of Milford, Ohio, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at her residence.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Howard Lieske.
    Survivors include her sons, Charles (Judy) Lieske, Ronald (Rita) Leiske, David (Linda) Lieske, Allen (Lynn) Lieske and Dennis (Linda) Lieske; daughters, Mary (Brent) Lieske Royse and Wynita Midge (Bill) Lieske Helton; 24 grandchildren and 35 great grand children.
    Funeral services were held on June 29 at the Evans Funeral Home in Milford, Ohio.
