  • Here at the newspaper we never know what kind of conversation we’ll have when the phone rings.
    Recently, as I picked up the phone a woman blurted out, “Do you believe God talks to you through your dreams?”
    My first thought: Is this a trick question? Does she believe it or does she believe it’s hocus pocus hooey balooey?
    My second thought: I hope she didn’t dream that God wants her to run me over with a forklift.

  • The Northern Kentucky District Board of Health has selected Jonathan Rich, DMD, Richard Schuck, OD and Julie Metzger Aubuchon, OD, as officers for its fiscal year 2015, which runs from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015.
    Rich, representing Grant County, will serve as chair. He is a dentist in private practice with Precision Dental Care and served as chair in 2010-2011.

  • David and Laynee Osborne of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their son.
    David Samuel Osborne was born at 10:42 a.m. on June 4 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He weighed 5 pounds and 9 ounces and was 18 ¼ inches long.
    His maternal grandparents are Kevin and Kathy Grayson of Cynthiana.
    His paternal grandmother is Barbara Osborne of Williamstown. 

  • Robert Chrisman Jr. died unexpectedly on July 10, 2014. To assist the family with funeral expenses a benefit will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at the Edwardo’s in Williamstown. A portion of all sales purchased will benefit the family. Donations can also be made by contacting Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria at 859-635-7844.

  • Tractor Supply Co. in Williamstown will host the Old Timers Car Club annual meeting from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 19. There will be a car show with trophies and dash plaques. Entry fee is $15.   • The Grant County Extension Office, 105 Baton Rouge Road, Williamstown has scheduled classes for the month of June.
     • Beginning Canning and Food Preservation from 6 to 9 p.m. July 10 at the Grant County Extension Office. Class size is limited. No registration fee, call 859-824-3355 to register.
